Welcome
Hi! I’m Karla and welcome to Dash of KMC. I’m so glad you stopped by. I look forward to getting to know each of you and I want you to get to know me. I have been married to an amazing man, my husband Bob, for over 20 years. We have 2 great kids, Rob and Charis, who are smart, amazing humans and who make me laugh – A LOT! And a fur baby, Sweet Pea, whose Shih Tzu body is way too small to hold so much attitude but I LOVE IT! I am a self-taught maker and baker of all things yummy, I fell in love with cooking in 2001 and never looked back.
I had a solid start with a Mom and Abuela who were great cooks. I didn’t realize it at the time but now I see that what they cooked everyday wasn’t just food, it was memories, culture and heritage. The foundation for my passion. My goal is to make this blog a place where I can give back and share what I’ve learned about cooking, entertaining and baking, while making it fun, easy and approachable for anyone who wants to learn to make great food so you can make wonderful memories around your table with the family and friends you love.
As a native Floridian, my culinary roots are diverse. Southern, Spanish, Italian, Cuban and Latin American. And then I married a Puerto Rican and that added a whole other flavor to the mix. Being a stay at home mom for almost 10 years has blessed me with the opportunity to fine tune my gifts and talents in a lab disguised as my kitchen and in those years I learned how to make delicious meals for my family, yummy desserts, meals on a budget, and how to entertain and feed a crowd. But most importantly, how not to hate it (the kitchen and I were enemies before 2001). So, whether you’re sitting around a table, at the kitchen counter or on the sofa, so much good can happen when we share a meal together.
Here’s to making some yummy new memories because everything is better with a Dash of KMC.
Lots of love, Karla.
