Rinse the rice until the water runs clear and is no longer milky white.
With the same measuring cup that you used for the rice, measure out the water and place it in a pot with a tight fitting lid. Stir in the salt and oil.
Place over high heat. Just as the water comes to a boil, add in the rice, stir a few times, bring back to a boil, cover immediately and reduce the heat to low.
Simmer on low for 35 minutes. Avoid removing the lid during the 35 minute cooking time or the rice can come out hard in the center.
